Obituary of Robert A. Covington

Robert Aaron Covington was. born on April 11, 1970 at Kessler Hospital, Hammonton, NJ to James and Mary Covington. He departed this life on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

He grew up in West Atco, NJ where he attended the Winslow Township school system.mHe received his high school diploma from Turner Job Corps in Albany, GA. There, he was a student athlete who played football and basketball. Continuing his education, he attended Gupton-Jones College in Atlanta, GA where he received his degree in Mortuary Science.

He worked in the field of funeral services for several years until he transitioned to the transportation field as the Operations Manager for Commercial Transportation in 2012 where he worked until his passing. In his spare time, Robert volunteered for the Ballantyne Gators Football team and the South Piedmont Heat AAU basketball.

He loved encouraging, mentoring, and coaching kids. Robert will be remembered as a loving family man who cherished his family and adored his children. He will be most remembered for his fun, loving personality and his love of laughing, joking, and enjoying life to the fullest with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Covington, Sr.; daughter, Ava Josephine Covington; brothers, Clarence Covington and Russell Covington; sisters, Jacklyn Hester and Marva Maxwell.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mary Covington; his children, Dmitri Reaves, James Covington and Bella McCants; his brothers, James R. Covington, Jr. (Angie) and John H. Covington, Sr. (Sharon); his sisters, Brenda "Penny" Coffield, Sheila Morrison and Roberta Barnes; his uncles, Robert Beatty and Kenneth Covington; his aunts, Dorothy Beeks-Ellison (Eugene), Alberta Covington, Augustine Dickerson, Anna Covington and Marie Covington and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
