Obituary of Francis Fontaine Oatman

Please share a memory of Francis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Francis Fontaine Oatman, 75 of Pleasantville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, November 11, 2018.  He was born to John Oatman, Sr. and Frances Oatman, on January 21, 1943.

Frank, “Frankie”, “PopPop”, “The Cager”, as he was affectionately known, graduated from ACHS and ACC.  Frank was one of the greatest ball players to come out of Atlantic City.

Frank was first employed at the Ice House during his younger years.  He eventually started a long career with NARCO (later known as The John Brooks Recovery Center) as a counselor and supervisor helping hundreds of recovering addicts.  Finally, Frank retired last year after 25 years of service with the City of Pleasantville, as Supervisor of Code Enforcement and President of the local government workers union.  Frank championed and wrote the referendum for the City of Pleasantville to become Civil Service, and negotiated all the contracts.  He was a powerful advocate for the people.

In 1984, Frank co-founded Brown and Associates with Rev. James Brown and Rev. John Howard.  This great collaboration produced and presented the widely known musical, “Yes, God Is Real”, as well as “Count Your Blessings”, and “Why Am I Still Holding On.”  Frank served God and lived well.

In addition to his parents, Frank is predeceased by his brother, John (Mose) Oatman, and his beloved dog, Mister.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving daughter, Keli Mainor Oatman; his grandson, Jeffree Fauntleroy II; his darling great grands, Kayla, Austin, King and Marley Grace Fauntleroy; his aunt, Evelyn Prattis of Chester, PA; and a host of other family and friends.
