Russell Robert Covington departed this life on Friday, July 13, 2018, in his home at the Lindenwold Towers at the age of 67. He was born on April 22, 1951 to the late James R. Covington, Sr. and the late Sara Elizabeth Wright. Russell had four brothers, James R. Covington, Jr., John H. Covington, Sr., Robert A. Covington and Clarence Covington (deceased). He also had two sisters, Jackie Hester and Marva Maxwell whom also preceded him in death.

Russell was born in Philadelphia, PA and was raised in West Atco, NJ. As a youth, he attended Winslow Township public school system and graduated from Edgewood Regional High School in 1970.

Russell’s proudest achievement in life was his daughter, Jounette M. Wyche “Missy”, whom was born June 11, 1973. As his first career, he loved being a cook. Later, he enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1982. He was stationed in Alaska, Germany and Columbus, GA.  He served in one war, Desert Storm, where he received several medals of honor. Russell loved to have served his country and in 1992 he received an honorable discharge from his duties.

Russell, affectionately known as “Russ”, by his family and friends had a special love for Cadillac cars and B.B.Q. He loved being around family and friends. “Russ” was very easy going and loved talking.

In addition to his parents and three siblings, he also was preceded in death by two nephews, Clarence Maxwell and Damien Covington and one niece, Kelly Ann Hester.

Russell leaves to mourn, his one and only daughter, Jounette M. Wyche (Gregory Wyche, Sr.); two granddaughters, Tazmeer Gail and Tatyana Robinson; one grandson, Gregory Wyche, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Samiyah and Shaque Trusty; three brothers, James R. Covington, Jr. (Angie), John H. Covington, Sr. (Sharon) and Robert A. Covington; 8 nephews, 6 nieces; great nephews and nieces; one uncle, Kenneth Covington; 3 aunts, Dorothy Beeks Ellison (Eugene), Alberta Covington and Augustine Dickerson and a host of other family and friends.
