Obituary of Lester V. McQuaig, Jr.
Lester V. McQuaig, Jr., of Mizpah, New Jersey, was the first male child born to Ruth and Lester V. McQuaig, Sr., in New York City on January 22, 1945. He was the oldest of four children from this union, including Ronald, Regina and Herman.
He was raised in New York where he attended school, graduating from high school there. He attended the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in New York where he received the Lord as his Ssavior, under the leadership of Bishop S. McDowell Shelton.
He worked for New York Transit System for a brief period. His parents, being members of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, were familiar with one of the members and from that friendship, he met and married Geraldine Sims in 1963, and that union lasted until his demise on Sunday, October 22, 2017, in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland, New Jersey.
Mr. McQuaig was an avid reader of many subjects, primarily the scriptures, and had pleasure sharing his information with others. It was his life’s worth for which he had a great passion. While enjoying these pleasures, he became an avid visitor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Vineland, New Jersey, under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Darwin Ransom. His relationship with Pastor Ransom, the members of St. Paul, and specifically Deacon and Mrs. Mobley, sustained him during these last months of his life.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McQuaig was predeceased by his brother, Herman.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Geraldine; brother, Ronald McQuaig of Brooklyn, New York; sister, Regina Miller of Bronx, New York; a caring nephew, Gordon Jugu of New York; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
