Obituary of Alverna E. Waters

Alverna Elizabeth Waters, daughter of the late Lawrence Walter Finch and Mary Elizabeth Finch, entered this life on March 20, 1930 in Martinsville, VA and departed this life on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

“Bunny”, affectionately known by family and friends; grew up in Woodbury, NJ where she received her education and graduated from Woodbury High School.

Bunny had a love and a gift for “doing hair”. She pursued her passion and accomplished her dream of graduating from Beauty School. She owned and operated her own salon for approximately forty years until she retired. 

Baptized as an early age, she was a devout Jehovah’s Witness. Bunny was married to James Waters (deceased). From this union two sons were born: James Jr. and Carlo.

Bunny was preceded in death by her sister Arlie (Fred deceased) Corsey and brother Charles Finch.

Among those who will cherish and embrace her memory: Two sons, James Jr. and Carlo (Donna) Waters; one brother, Gastonia (Indiana deceased) Finch; brother-in-law, Linell (Brenda deceased) Burrell, Jr.; grandson, Shawn Virden; granddaughters, Brandi and Brittany Waters; great granddaughter, Kiara Virden; great grandson, Shawn Virden, Jr.; great great grandsons Jovanni Virden, Aaron Benson and Jace James, also nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
