Obituary of Joseph E. Smith Jr.

Joseph Edward Smith, Jr., affectionately known as “JR, Joe and JoJo”, to his family and friends, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 31, 1955 to the proud parents, Joseph Edward Smith Sr. and Mary Ann Smith. He was the eldest of five children.
“JR” enjoyed listening to music, singing in the choir during his youth and playing basketball. He was raised in Chesilhurst, NJ and attended Edgewood Regional High School, Tansboro, NJ and decided to enlist in the U.S. Army in August 1978. He served proudly for four years and seven months. “JR” worked diligently as an upholsterer for Resorts Casino in Atlantic City for several years. He later moved to Woodbine, NJ and worked for Woodbine Development Center, repairing wheelchair covers and other mechanical equipment for about fifteen years. “JR” had his own business in Woodbine called JR Interior Design. He enjoyed working on yachts, sofas and cornices. “JR” was a member of the American Legion Post #61 in Atlantic County. He also was a member of International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
“JR” was married twice. He leaves to cherish his memory four children: Tieshau (Chris), Erick (Selena), Sabrina, and Joseph III. “JR” also cherished Nikki, Roche, Nyeer and Nina as his own; and 36 grandchildren.. He also leaves three supportive siblings, Carlena (Mike), Darlena, and Gloria along with seven aunties; three uncles, and one great great uncle and aunt.
