Obituary of Alvin Darin Bethune

Alvin Darien Bethune, affectionately called ‘Poosa’, was born July 12, 1966 to Alvin & Ellen Marita McCann. He was the sixth of eight siblings. He attended elementary school in the Winslow Township School System and graduated from Edgewood Regional High school in Tansboro, NJ where he was a member of the Eagles Football team. Afterwards, he enrolled at the General School of Broadcasting in Philadelphia, PA. Alvin received his earliest religious training at home and his formal instruction began at Mt Zion Baptist Church in West Atco, NJ. As an adult, he rededicated his life to Christ and became a member of Lighthouse of Deliverance Gospel Church in Lindenwold, NJ under the pastorate of Bishop Anthony J Harley. He loved to read the scriptures and share with his friends. Throughout his lifetime, Alvin worked in a variety of jobs to assist in raising his family. He was employed by Radio Shack, Barrett Construction Company and most recently Garden State Asphalt. Alvin was a ‘people person’. He was upbeat and could get along with everyone. He was always smiling and he was sort of a comedian and kept you laughing. Yet, he thought before he spoke, and gave sound advice to those seeking his counsel. Alvin loved music and he was a skilled and proficient Dee Jay. He was known as ‘Wax Master Al’ and he took pleasure in providing special music requested for family reunions, weddings, birthdays, cookouts and all types of parties. He was Wax Master Sound Productions. On Friday, December 30, 2016, the Lord called Alvin home. He was predeceased by his mother, Ellen Marita McCann, his brother, Herbert O Bethune, Jr. three sisters; Lynette, Melvina and Una Bethune and granddaughter, Trinity Darrison. He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Alvin James McCann, one son; Terrell Darrison (Gabrielle), eight grandchildren; Taniya, Giona, Terrell, Gabriel, Terrence, Gavin, Tesean, & Gerron Darrison, one sister; Fern Ferguson of Phila., PA; two brothers; Reginald and Walter Bethune, of West Atco, NJ aunts and uncles; Walter (Dorothy) McCann, Rita Dickerson, David McCann, Marsha (Willie) Ewing, Harold McCann, Charmaine (Michael) Curtis, Vanessa (George Allen) Johnson, Lenore Gardner, Harriet Toomer, Howard (Linda) Toomer, & Emily Miller, a special friend, Michael ‘Mr. Mike’ Robinson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
