Obituary of Lamont Schafer
Please share a memory of Lamont to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lamont Shaffer was born May 4, 1946 to Retha Hicks Shaffer and the late Deacon Edgar Shaffer, Sr. Lamont departed this life on Thursday, September 1, 2016 in his apartment in Beverly, NJ .
Lamont was affectionately called "Rodeo," by friends and some family members; however he was "Monty" to his immediate family. During his childhood years, the family moved from Beverly to Burlington, NJ. He attended the Burlington City School system and graduated from Burlington City High School.
Upon graduation, Lamont enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1969. For many years, he worked for Hoeganaes, Riverton, NJ and Public Service Electric and Gas Nuclear Generating Stations, Salem, NJ .
Lamont was a very generous and bright person and he would assist anyone who needed help. He had excellent electrical skills and many people would call him to perform electrical work. We often called him the Burlington County "cheap" electrician.
Lamont loved the single life and maintained a care free attitude. Although he did what he wanted to do; which was not always proper; through it all he was a good person. He loved a good time and constantly brought much laughter to family gatherings and among his friends.
Before the passing of his father, Deacon Edgar Shaffer, Sr., Lamont was often witnessed to about the goodness of the Lord and his need to accept the Lord into his life. He would always say, "I communicate with the Lord and He and I Know each other."
Predeceased by his father, Deacon Edgar Shaffer, Sr., two brothers, Eugene Shaffer and Edgar Shaffer, Jr.; Lamont leaves to cherish many fond memories, his loving mother, Retha Shaffer; two sisters, Patty Friend (Dwight) and Gail Bailey (Kevin) one sister-in-law, Annette Shaffer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
