Benjamin O. Shaw was born January 3, 1952, in Kingstree, South Carolina, to the late Robert and Julia McCrae Shaw. He departed this life on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, in the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division in Atlantic City. Benjamin attended school in South Carolina, graduating from Blakely High School in Trio, South Carolina. He attended college in Charleston and Columbia, and had received his Associate degree. After coming to Atlantic City, he was employed as a Coin Bank Manager for 15 years at Resorts International Hotel Casino. He then was Coin Bank Manager at the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort. Benjamin also had been employed as a substitute teacher for the Atlantic City school system, at Chelsea Heights School. Benjamin was a member of Second Baptist Church since coming to Atlantic City in 1972. In addition to his parents, Robert and Julia Shaw, Benjamin was predeceased by a sister, Mae, and a brother, Senior. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his sisters, Margaret Shaw of Pleasantville, and Bertha Covert of Atlantic City; three brothers, Rev. Eddie Shaw (Tracy) of Greeleyville, South Carolina, Robert Lee Shaw (Louise) and Jackie Shaw (Sheila), both of Andrews, South Carolina; special nephews, Arthur Covert of Atlantic City, and Martin Shaw (Nicole) of Carney’s Point, New Jersey; a special niece, Barbara Cook (Mike) of Pleasantville; an uncle, Cicero McCrae of Kingstree, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
