Julia Elizabeth Johns Young was born September 23, 1923 in Palmyra, NJ to Merrill and Leah Johns. She departed this life on January 27, 2014 at Lutheran Care, Moorestown NJ. Julia attended the Palmyra School System. She married Elwood P. Young of Palmyra and from this union two children were born, Mary (Pratt) and Elwood Young. Julia was a life-long member of St. Paul UAME Church of Palmyra, NJ and was baptized April 11, 1935. She was a devoted member and Missionary Treasurer for many years. Julia was employed by MacMillan Publishing in Riverside, NJ from which she retired. Siblings preceding her in death are Merrill "Reds" Johns, William "Winky" Johns, Lillian Folks, Thomas Johns, George Johns, Tyrone Johns and Shirley Chappell. She is survived by her son, Elwood "Brother" R. Young, four grandchildren, Dawn F. Pratt, Dawson "Tager" F. Pratt), John "Rusty" E. Young, Brian R. Young (Nicole); Two sisters, Delores "Lolly" Jones and Carol "Beechie" Johnson; three brothers, Donald Johns (Helen), Marvin Johns and Russell "Sam" Johns and nine great-grandchildren. A host of nephews, nieces and extended family members and friends. Three special friends Marion Cauthorne, Phyllis and Lloyd Scott. Julia was a people person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her home was always open to visitors. She had a fondness for poodles, enjoyed traveling, and had a great sense of humor. Julia will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
