Adele Luberta Adkins, affectionally known as "Berda" was born in Charleston, SC on September, 1st 1941, to Alberta and the late Benjamin Wright Sr. Adele is the oldest of six children. Adele graduated from Murrell Dobbins Vocational School in Philadelphia, PA. She was an exceptional scholar and at the age of thirteen, she attended Penn State University. She stayed only a short time and six years later she married the late Rodney B. Adkins Sr. Of this union came four sons and a daughter. She finalized her academic goals by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education at Glassboro State College. Adele's career began as an educator in the Winslow Township School District where she taught children with special needs and she remained with Winslow Township Schools for twenty seven years. She was a beloved educator, mentor, and true friend to so many during their careers at Winslow Township. She will be missed but never forgotten by all of those whose lives she touched with her strength and love. Adele received Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She worshipped at First Baptist Church of Florence Estates in Berlin, NJ. She was preceded in death by her father Benjamin Wright Sr., her husband Rodney B. Adkins Sr., her sister Bernadette Knox, and her brother Bartholomew B. Wright, her nephew Terry Knox Jr. and loving son Roderick B. Adkins Sr. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her four children Rodney B. Adkins Jr. (Candy), Royd B. Adkins (Cindy), Reginald B. Adkins Sr. (Lisa), and Robin Alberta Laura Adkins; one godson Damon Knox; four grandsons Roderick B. Adkins Jr., Reginald B. Adkins Jr., Reo B. Adkins, and Rodney B. Adkins III; four granddaughters Charne E. Love, Danielle N. Love, Ariel-Ashley A. Adkins, and Blaire A. Adkins; great grandchildren Roderick B. Adkins III, Amari Adkins, and Reayeshia Adkins; her mother Alberta Wright; three siblings Benjamin Wright Jr. (Suzanne), Agatha Wright, and Alfonzo Wright (Patricia); five brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
