Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William Henry Murray, Jr. was born November 26, 1930 in Camden, New Jersey to the late William H. Murray, Sr. and Comora Lee Robinson. He was the eldest of eight children and sadly preceded in death by his parents William and Comora; brothers Isaac and Samuel and son Kenneth. He was educated in in the Berlin Township School District. He graduated from Overbrook Regional High School in June 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge #5 in Lawnside, NJ. He loved to fly and work on engines. Junior, as he was affectionately known, was always tinkering with and making model airplanes. He also flew small model planes in and around the South Jersey area. Junior was also a shutterbug! He could always be seen snapping pictures of anything and everything. He had his own darkroom where he developed his pictures with his brother-in-law Lonnie. He was a collector of cameras from ones like a Rolleiflex to a Polaroid 360 and everything in between. If it had anything to do with photography, Junior had it. Even after his retirement, he still worked on various items until his illness got the better of him. Junior was also a draftsman and made everything from clocks to snow plows. If he needed a particular part, machine or mower, he'd design it, get the materials and build it the next day. He was employed at McCullum Engineering in Marlton, NJ and then at Langston Corporation for over 40 years. Junior was also an experienced motorcyclist and owned several bikes. He leaves to mourn his wife Loretta of 57 years; 9 children: Michael, Celia, Lorraine, David, Eileen Hudson, Anjanette Coverdale, Juanita Smalls, Ivan and Jai; daughter-in-law, Nicole; sons-in-law, Albert Smalls, Sr. and Frank Hudson; 36 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; his aunt and uncle Clementine and Lester Robinson; one sister, Mary Robinson; four brothers, Alexander, Paul, Elwood, Sr. and Ernest; sisters-in-law, Betty Murray, Rose and Bernice Newton, Anna Fleetwood; brother-in-law Fred Newton as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He will forever be in our hearts and memories.
