Mother Adele Giddins was born November 8, 1928 in Baltimore, MD to the late Herman Ford and Sarah Lipscomb. She departed this life on Thursday, May 16, 2013. She was married to Rev. Charles Giddins, Sr. for 67 years! To this union was born four children, Brenda, Charles, Jr.II, Charlotte and Charles, Jr. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the tender age of 17. Mother Giddins was a woman of God whose main role was to encourage people to obey and serve the Lord. She was hardworking and faithful. Even when she did not feel well and was experiencing pain in her body, she went to church on Sundays. She would even accompany the Superintendent whenever he traveled to proclaim God's word as he pastored Victory Temple Community Church in Camden and Mt. Zion Church of God In Christ in Atlantic City, NJ. She believed the secret of a close relationship with God is to pray to Him earnestly each morning and to read his word. She prayed and read her bible daily which enabled her to counsel the members of the congregation. First Lady Adele Giddins is a native of Camden, New Jersey. She received her formal education in Camden City Public School System. In 19 -Mother Giddins obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Glamssboro State College (now known as Rowan University). She also received a Master's Degree in Education, Bachelor's Degree and an honorary Doctorate in Theology from Jameson Bible Institute. Many of her employment experiences helped to prepare her for a career as an educator. She began as a button-hole seamstress and then moved on to become a Stenographer at Camden City Hall. She later became the Head Secretary in the Law Dept. of the Board of Social Services and later advanced to become the Supervisor of the Secretarial Department. Mother Adele always had a desire to fulfill the needs of her spiritual calling. God directed her to leave her employment at that time to become leader in the spiritual workplace as the Director of Victory Temple Day Care while attending college to complete her degree. She went on to serve on the Camden Board of Education as a Paraprofessional at J. G. Whittier Elementary School. Once she obtained her college degree, she taught at Parkside Elementary, East Camden Middle School and Veterans Memorial Middle School just to name a few. She was employed by the Camden School System for 30 years until she retired at Veterans Memorial Middle School. She taught children on the elementary, middle and high school level. Her goal and dream was to help young people receive the best education possible. Each student was special to her and she provided learning opportunities that helped them to succeed. She was an outstanding, effective and caring teacher. Mother Giddins was licensed as an Evangelist Missionary in 1970 and worked closely with the National Supervisor at that time, Mother Bailey. Over the years, she served in various roles in the church. In er early years, she was the News Reader for Church Current Events at faith Holy temple & Wells Cathedral. You could often find her writing and reciting original poems for many church services. She dedicated 53 years of her life to ministry at Victory Temple in Camden and 48 years to Mt. Zion in Atlantic City. In 1972, she helped to establish the Adele Scholarship Foundation. This foundation acknowledges all students who are promoted and who also graduate from the high school and college level. The mission and aim of this foundation is to encourage young people everywhere to increase their learning, knowledge and wisdom with the help of God. She developed several Christian education programs and developed an after school bible study for city youth. Not only was she a gifted school teacher, she also was an anointed Sunday School and YPWW teacher for many years. Every summer she conducted Vacation Bible School. Mother Giddins was a prayer warrior as well as an anointed speaker and has been the guest speaker for many Women's Ministry services. Mother Giddins is a true example of the virtuous woman that the bible talks about in Proverbs 31. She was a dedicated wife and stood right by the side of her husband doing all that she could to help promote the kingdom of God. Superintendent always quotes "Follow means I follow Christ" (1Cor.11:1) She was a gracious Lady walking in His footsteps, often being named as a role model to all women.
