Obituary of Elease Gant

Elease Dreher Gant was born in Richland County (Columbia), SC on Friday, December 27, 1918 and departed this life quietly and peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2013. She was the youngest of 13 children born to the late John Dreher and Alice Chavis Dreher. She started her Christian walk at the age of 12. She attended the Piney Grove Baptist Church. At a young age, she was a willing worker. She worked with the Sunday School and sang on the young adult choir. After the passing of her parents, she moved to Philadelphia, PA. Over 60 years ago, she joined in fellowship with the Cornerstone Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Harold O. Davis. Elease loved her church and served faithfully until her health declined. She was a member of the #2 Choir, the Willing Workers, the Silver Leaf and many other ministries. God gave her the gift of organization and leadership and through His guidance, she held many positions of responsibility, and she organized numerous successful events to the glory of God. Elease was employed by the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America as a skilled seamstress. She retired after 30 years of labor in 1983. She loved beautiful clothes and was meticulous in her attire. She traveled far and near. She always trusted that the Lord would see her through all of her endeavors. She was preceded in death by her first child, Jerome, who died as an infant. Elease leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Asia and Sandra; four grandchildren, Angela (Byron), Michelle, Franchessca (Dallas) and Anwar; eight great grandchildren, Cydnee, Diamond, Dominique, Dana, Cameron, Myles, Ryan and Maya; one great great grandson, Jordan; her devoted nieces, Louise and Mildred and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and members of Cornerstone Baptist Church Family and First Nazarene Baptist Church Family.
