Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald Cooper was born on May 6, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the eldest of seven children born to Ruth Shipper and the late Warren Eugene Johnson, Sr. Ronald was raised in New Jersey by James and Angelina Cooper. On January 31, 2013, Ronald surrounded by his family, went to be with the Lord after an eight year battle with cancer. During his teenage years, he was nicknamed "Young Blood". He loved to skate and he belonged to a bowling league. Ronald graduated from Oak Crest High School. He excelled in football. From high school he went to serve in the United States Navy, where he served his country dutifully for 4 years and received an Honorable Discharge. His passion for driving across country turned into his lifetime career. After a long journey, his greatest pleasure was to come home to his Lionel trains and fishing. His joy for the game of chess turned into teaching his children and relatives. Ronald also enjoyed going to the casino and watching sports and the history channel. Ronald was very stubborn, stern, witty and generous. He was intellectual, an observer and very opinionated. His nickname should have been the "Riddler". Waiting to greet him at Heaven's gate are his brothers, Theophilis "Nutty", Warren "Eggie" and Ronald Irwin. He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Ruth Johnson; his wife of 40 years, Loretta Cooper; his children, Renee (Mitchell), Jenelle, James "Butchie" and Ronald Jr. He also leaves eight grandchildren; his sisters, Willa Mae, Denise, Wanda Johnson-Irwin; his brothers, Keith and Joseph; sister-in-law, Sarah Graham; a god daughter, Nicole; his favorite niece, Kytisha and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends - Ed, Smitty, Trellie, Carman and Granny; and many friends who will not forget such a special person.
