Obituary of William H. Harris

William H. Harris ("Reds") of Gibbstown, NJ son of George Harris and Fannie Harris (Holmes) was born on February 9, 1927. He left earthly home on January 5, 2013 and may he rest in peace as he takes the journey home to be with the Lord. At an early age, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior and was baptized by the late Reverend Sylvanus Browne. William was educated in the Gibbstown School System through the eighth grade. In October, 1945 he entered the United States Army Air Corps and received a World War II Victory Medal and American Theater Ribbon. After an honorable discharge from military service, he met and married Martha L. Washington on September 15, 1956 and moved to Paulsboro, NJ. From this union, two children were born, daughters Valarie and Gwendolyn. William began a career in construction as a general laborer and other skilled positions. Upon his construction career, he became a union member with Laborers' International Union of North America, Local 172. After retiring from construction William became employed at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Woodbury, NJ in the maintenance department until his final retirement. He enjoyed watching boxing, Gun smoke, Bonanza, Philadelphia Eagles football and playing the lottery. To cheriah in passing, his children, Valarie Stafford and Gwendolyn Watson;son-in-law; Jeffrey Stafford, two sister-in-laws; Isabel Harris, Dorothy ("Tina") Avert, 2 grandchildren; Andre and Austin Watson, 2 nephews; Allen and Darrin Harris, cousins, friends and dear to all Mr. David Wilmore. Dad you once stated "I want to live as long as I can." Over the last several months you showed us determination, strength and will power to accomplish that goal. These are attributes that have shown us to never give up.
