Obituary of Calvin Marcus Gardner

Please share a memory of Calvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Calvin Marcus Gardner, affectionately known as Marcus, was born on July 17, 1987, at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford, NJ, to Sharon Ann Gardner and Calvin Washington Boone. He passed away on August 4, 2024, at the age of 37.

Marcus attended Lindenwold Schools from grade school through high school, where he played both football and basketball for several seasons. He graduated from Lindenwold High School in 2006. He furthered his education at Camden County Vocational School, earning a degree in HVAC in 2007, and later attended Smith & Solomon commercial trucking school, where he obtained his CDL in November 2011.

Marcus began working at the age of 16 at Burger King. He also served as an evening lead floor tech at Virtua in Voorhees for five years before moving on to Jefferson Health in Washington Township, where he worked in environmental services.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Marcus was a dedicated coach. He coached a girls’ basketball team in Gloucester Township for two seasons, including his daughter on the team.  Under his guidance, the team won a championship in their second season. His coaching skills and passion made him a beloved mentor to the young athletes.

Marcus was known for his deep love of sports, particularly football, basketball, and wrestling (WWE). He was a passionate fan and took pride in supporting his favorite teams, the Washington Commanders and the Los Angeles Lakers.

His kind heart, infectious laughter, and willingness to help others endeared him to everyone who knew him. Marcus was always ready with a joke or a helping hand. He had a special love for colognes and hats and cherished the time he spent with his mother, daughter, and friends. His loud and joyful laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Marcus leaves behind his mother, Sharon A. Gardner; his father, Calvin W. Boone; his daughter, Xymeniah M. Gardner; his two sons, Ayden K. Gardner and Kayden M. Gardner; his grandmother, Shirley Boone; as well as his sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of loving friends who will forever cherish his memory.
