Obituary of Rosetta R. Turner

Please share a memory of Rosetta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Rosetta Renee Walker Turner was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 19, 1959. She was the third born child of William and the late Dorothy Walker. At a young age, she relocated to south New Jersey. She resided in Griffin, GA, until she joined her Heavenly Father on March 12, 2024. Rosetta, affectionately known as “Rose” received her formal education in New Jersey and attended Edgewood High School but her true passion was establishing and operating her own businesses. In the early 1980’s, she was selected to model for John Roberts Power agency. Her modeling career was short lived as motherhood took precedence. Rose served as a councilwoman of the Borough of Chesilhurst from 1980-1984. She departed the political arena to launch Rose’s Boutique in partnership with her second husband, Fred Ashley. Together, they were a dynamic team selling jewelry, stylish church hats, synthetic hair, and cosmetics and raising five phenomenal children. An indomitable sense of purpose and highflier mentality aspired Rose to do more. So, she climbed the ranks as a proud Eastern Star and real estate entrepreneur where she worked tirelessly to assist individuals with homes in foreclosure. From there, Ultimate Marketing Services ensued which allowed her to focus on executing credit repair for individuals with low credit rating scores. In 1997, Rose bid farewell to New Jersey and moved to Atlanta, GA. She opened Dot’s Snack Shop and utilized the profits from her business to feed the homeless and put her children and their friends through real estate school. To know Rose was a special treat! She was known for her compelling personality, beautiful smile with dimples, business acumen, love of family, and compassion for both displaced and senior members of the community. She celebrated life in grand style, often decked out in her signature fashionable attire, fierce high heel pumps, alluring lipstick, and accessorized with a stylish pair of sunglasses to match every outfit. And Rose wouldn’t be the woman she was without her unwavering faith in God and five heartbeats—her courageous and very strong-willed children! Rose was hardworking and had a heart of gold. She had an illustrious call to ministry in the early 2000’s and made it her mission to spread the good news of Jesus Christ daily. She also provided shelter to individuals who were less fortunate. Often, Rose would gift the Holy Bible (NKJV) to people the Holy Spirit incited which included the following inscription: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” ~Psalm 119:105 Rose has found her earthly peace and heavenly home! God told her “WELL DONE!” during the 12:00 afternoon hour on Tuesday, March 12th. He said “WELL DONE, ROSETTA! You have been promoted; your earthly mission is COMPLETE!” Rose is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy (2008), sister Debrey (2017), husband of seven years, Brian Turner, who succumbed following a brief illness in 2004; and most recently, her companion, Jerry Fuller, who met his demise in 2023. Rose’s legacy of grace, mercy, strength, and love will forever be planted in her loving and devoted children: Lukeshia, Tameshia (Sean), Juanita, James, and Jermaine, adorable and awesome grandchildren: Kanequa, Jabree, Jubreel, Arionna, James, Jamera, Semaj, Levi, Adjai, and Maurice, father William (and stepmother Barbara), two sisters Belinda and Andrea, brother William, one niece Tiffany, two nephews Gregory and Robert, ex-husband Fred, along with numerous remarkable family members and dear friends. Her love for family, friends, and strangers will forever be instilled in them! Rosetta was a member of Grant AME Church in New Jersey and New Day Christian Fellowship Church in Georgia, as well as a pillar to her family and community. She will truly be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
