Obituary of Marlene T. Moorman
Please share a memory of Marlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 5, 1970, Marlene Teresa Moorman was the third offspring born to the late William and Alberta "Beatrice" Handy Moorman of Sicklerville, New Jersey. She was educated in the Winslow Township system, graduating from Edgewood Regional High School in 1988. As a child, Marlene played little league softball and loved animals! In high school, she was active in the tennis and track teams, the band (like her cousins) as a flutist and violinist, and the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC).
As an avid tennis player, reflections of the classic meeting of legends John McEnroe and Billy Jean King at center court rendered great excitement and exhilaration. Marlene closely followed high-profile players like Björn Borg, Boris Becker, Jimmy Conner, and Andre' Agassi. From the world of track and field, the flight of Carl Lewis, "Flo-Jo," Jackie Joyner Kersee, and the superhuman Usain Bolt were conversation topics during the Olympics. Additionally, Marlene enjoyed music through diverse genres, from the Electro-pop sound of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" to Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" from the soundtrack of Armageddon. Performances by Nicolas Cage in Face-Off, Con Air, Armageddon, and Gone in Sixty-Seconds were revered as highly as Hugh Jackman's performance in X-Men as Wolverine. Less we forget Batman across the ages!
Marlene loved her family, friends, singing, dancing, visiting the Jersey Shore, Air and Car shows, and National League Football games. Time paused for all Cowboy games as she sat wrapped in a Dallas blanket with Gatorade (or fruit punch), Lay's potato chips, or an occasional bowl of mashed potatoes by her side. Flounder, turkey, Reece's candy, and Spite were a few of her comfort favorites. She will be missed greatly!
Marlene entered eternal rest on July 27, 2023. She was preceded in death by her niece Labria Moorman.
Memories of Marlene will be cherished forever by her three children: Jason Moorman, Johnathan Forcht, and Ashlei Newhouse; siblings William E., Sharon A., and Mark C. Moorman; nieces Tanesha, Tashanna, Tiana, NyAisha, and Kyra Moorman; nephew Mark C., great-aunt Marie Handy Covington, and a host of cousins and friends.
