Clara Bell Mitchell (nee Pratt) was born on September 27, 1936, in a little town called Jefferson, Gloucester County, New Jersey. She departed this life at home surrounded by loved ones on May 9, 2023. Clara as she preferred to be called was the 7th child of 11 siblings, born to the late Ross and Annie Iris Pratt (nee Foster). All together 8 girls and 3 boys. She learned her work ethics at an early age by working hard on the family land on Tuckahoe Rd. Clara attended school in Williamstown, where she met the love of her life William H Mitchell Sr. They were married on June 27, 1958. And through this union were born two children, Luberta Ann Mitchell (Jeffery Hall) and William H Mitchell Jr (Thorbjorg). Clara worked mostly as a governess, the last one lasting over 30 years for the Feinberg’s of Cherry Hill where she is truly missed still to this day. She enjoyed growing vegetable in the garden, that she would cook with love. She loved her family and always had an open door for anyone who needed to stay for a while. Many of you whom are here today. She loved hosting family reunions at her home, where family would travel from near and far and reminisce about the good times. She was a loving wife and mother and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. Traveling to Florida was a high point that she looked forward to as well as going to the Poconos and Wildwood where she would always get her favorite Gyro from Harry’s on the Boardwalk. She also loved and looked forward to her weekly and sometimes daily, phone calls with family that lived far away. Clara was predeceased by her husband William H Mitchell Sr and only daughter Luberta Ann Hall (nee Mitchell) and 8 siblings. She leaves behind her only son William H Mitchell Jr and daughter-in-law Thorbjorg; 8 grandchildren: Chuckie (Solvi), Pariss (Julius), Kayla, William III, Alisha, Jeremy, Gaige, and Brandon (Tyreesha); 17 great grandchildren, which there are 14 boys and 3 girls. Her 2 sisters Jean Cooper and Joan Merriweather, and a special bond with her niece Phyllis Folk who was like a sister to her. A host of additional nieces, nephews’, cousins, goddaughter, and special friends.
