Obituary of Thomas Pitt
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Pitt was born on February 22,1949 in Philadelphia, PA to Lucille Pitt and the late Charles Summers; however, Tommy was raised by maternal grandmother Verde Pitt and beloved Aunt Hattie Smith in Williamstown, NJ. At a young age, Tommy was raised to love the Lord and this belief would be ingrained in him all throughout his life.
Tommy was educated in the Williamstown school district until he graduated from Williamstown High School in 1970. Upon graduation, Tom enrolled in the military where he would be inducted in the Army on October 20, 1970. His army training was completed at Fort Dix NJ after which, Tom was sent to Germany to serve out his deployment. After 5 years of service, Tommy was honorably discharged on October 19, 1975.
Upon completion of the military, Tommy relocated back to Williamstown NJ. Considered to be a “Jack of all trades” Tommy would hold various positions throughout his adult career. Through his love of driving, Tommy would obtain a position with NJ Transit as a bus driver and serve in this position for many years. Through this, Tommy was able to obtain a position as a long-haul tractor trailer driver that would lead him all over the United States.
Tommy charismatic, winning, and his flirtatious personality would father three children from 1982-2006. During this time, Shovonna of Charlotte, NC, Tabitha of Sicklerville, NJ and Brandon of Williamstown, NJ would be conceived. Tommy would be considered a great friend and understanding father over the years he wasn’t perfect, but he did try to right his wrongs in later years.
Tommy had a passion for landscaping and motorcycles that would take up all his time throughout the last couple years. Tommy was known to be seen all around Williamstown maintaining numerous yards for family and friends. When Tommy was not busy working, you would find him junking or enjoying spending time riding his bike and enjoying the company of his brothers in the motorcycle club.
Tommy leaves behind to mourn in his passing, children: Shovonna, Tabitha, & Brandon, his siblings: Paulette, Antina, Linda, Darryl, Nasheed, and Phillip and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Also left to mourn are his two special “fur babies” Sam & Princess.
