Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Arnold Covington also known as Kenny, Cov, Pete, Petergun or Bubby by friends and family. He was born on May 23, 1941 in West Atco, New Jersey to the late James P. Covington and Marie (Murray) Covington. Kenny was the youngest of eleven (11) children. He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Beeks Ellison (Eugene), Alberta Covington and Augustine Covington Dickerson. Kenny was called home on December 20, 2021 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Kenny’s early education was in the Winslow Township School System. He often told stories of visiting the fruit trees located around the Bates Mills School House. He attended the Lower Camden County High School, better known as “Overbrook,” located in Lindenwold where he was a top ranked wrestler. Kenny completed the Manpower Development Training Program for auto body repair and opened an auto body shop with childhood friend, Gilbert Toomer. Kenny later changed careers at the suggestion of another childhood friend, Gene Lemon and started working in masonry (a career he would work at until the age of retirement). Kenny was raised at an early age in the church his mother and father were among the founding members of New St. John (“St. John”) Methodist Church. Kenny served as a trustee at both St. John and what is now the River of Life Worship Center. He used his skills as a block mason to work in the evenings and Saturdays to lay the walls of St. John church building located at 260 Nelson Avenue, West Atco. Pete (as he was lovingly referred), was always ready and willing to help anyone who asked for his help. Kenny leaves to mourn daughters: Dawn Parker (James) and Kennita Nicholson; sons: Tim Key and Sean Golden (Andrea); sisters-in-laws: Anna Covington and Marie Covington; a special friend, Gwen Golden, together with many grand-children, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
