Owens David Newkirk, affectionately known as “Uncle David”, passed away at the age of 69 on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. On June 29, 1951, David was the 4th born child to the late Owens W. Newkirk (Attica) and Lillian Mosley in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Williamstown High School and was a member of the 1969 graduating class. David enlisted in the U.S. Airforce on January 9, 1973. He served 2 tours, a total of 9 years protecting our country. David touched the lives of everyone he encountered in such an impactful way, especially his family. He was known for his smooth presence and stylish attire. He believed in Jesus Christ and the power of our Lord, and he read his bible often. It was in high school, that he met his wife, the late Joanne Newkirk (nee Warner). From this union, his daughter Dana R Jackson (Andrew) was born. Throughout his life’s journey, he also fathered David J Mayes (Victoria) and Shannon M Damesworth (Adam). In addition to his children, David also leaves to mourn four grandchildren and 1 great grandchild (Talaya Payne, Shane Jackson, Jasmine and Ethan Damesworth, Katori Wolfe). He further leaves to mourn his sisters: Teresa Moore, Antoinette Morgan, Bridget Morgan and Delores Kirby; brother: Ronald Newkirk, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends. He was preceded in death by the following siblings: Patricia Ware (deceased), Gwendolyn Mobley (deceased), Evelyn Daniels (deceased), Barbara Newkirk (deceased), Lillian Oliver (deceased), Vincent M. Newkirk (deceased), James Morgan (deceased) and Andrew Alexander (deceased).
