Obituary of Joan Cynthia Parker

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
March 3rd, 2021 was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and the wind blew softly. On that day the Lord transitioned Joan Cynthia Watson Parker from this earth into his arms in heaven. Joan was born December 29, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Juanita and Frank Watson Sr. She resided in North Philadelphia with her three brothers Frank, Ronald, and Raymond. They all played a role in Joan's becoming a strong, independent and caring person. Joan attended Germantown High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1957. She went on to attend Zion Bible College in Rhode Island and graduated in 1963. Annually, Joan and her fellow classmates would travel back to college to attend the alumni meetings where Christ was celebrated, friendships renewed, and faith restored. For approximately thirty years she worked as a supervisor and caseworker for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s County Board of Assistance and Department of Public Welfare in Philadelphia, Pa. Joan met and married Jerry Parker Sr. and to them Jerry Parker Jr. was born. Joan enjoyed travelling abroad, having travelled to Bermuda, Jamaica, Mexico, England, France, Italy, Greece, and Africa. Her hobbies included crocheting and playing board games with her grandchildren. Joan lived for and loved her family. She joins her parents, Juanita and Frank Watson Sr. and her brothers Frank and Raymond. She leaves to cherish her memory; her son Jerry and his wife Marisol. Their three children James (his wife Kayla and son Easton), Antonio and Jasmine. Her brother Bishop Ronald Watson (his wife Doris), Nephews Tony (his wife Pam), Ronald Jr. (his wife Brenda), Raymond (his wife Darlene), Marc ( his wife Katrina) Niece Andrea (her husband Marcus) and numerous other nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her many friends including Deanie K. Hinmon Victor, Violet Gorham(Miss Bee), Frances Graves and family, Francis Young, Gwendolyn Porter, Vorlea Chaney and Vernita Bell all her sisters in Christ.
