Obituary of Alfred Douglas Hines

Please share a memory of Alfred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alfred Douglas Hines departed this life peacefully on November 30, 2020 at Virtua Hospital, Voorhees, New Jersey. Alfred was born August 5, 1946 at Cooper University Hospital, Camden, New Jersey. He was the son of Wilder and Vera L. Hines of Newtonville, New Jersey. Alfred was a fraternal twin to Albert David Hines. Alfred received his formal education in the New Jersey public school system. Alfred proudly joined and served his country in the United States Navy from 1964- 1968. Alfred served his country abroad the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. Alfred also served in the United States Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged from both branches. Upon his return to civilian life, Alfred worked in construction for a time. He then worked in the healthcare field and was employed at Bishop McCarthy Residence until his retirement. Alfred was always remembered by his patients as being kind, patient, gentle and always having a smile and encouraging words for them. Alfred, who was known as "Butch"; loved fast cars, the Eagles and the Phillies. He loved going to the Atco Drag races with his older brother Alvin "Sonny". Butch was a true fan of the Eagles and Phillies even though their wins were few. He never gave up hope for his teams. He loved going to live games with his friends when possible. Butch loved music and concerts, he was 74 in age but 24 in spirit and fun times. Butch met his wife Kamala "Kay" while working at Bishop McCarthy Residence. Butch and Kay had a long relationship, over 35 years. They finally decided after much debate to marry on August 8, 2015. True to his nature, Butch became Kay's caregiver in later years, his love and devotion continued. He is predeceased by his parents, Wilder and Vera Hines; 3 brothers, Alvin "Sonny" Hines, Lester Howard Hines and Albert David Hines, Sr.. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Kamala; his siblings Bobby Lee Hines (Sylvia), Kevin Lawrence Hines (Christina) and Vera Elaine Hines. Uncle Butch has a large host of nephews, nieces, cousins and very dear friends. Most important was that Butch gave his life to Christ several years ago and loved the Lord. He was never ashamed to talk about his faith and belief in Christ. Butch was a faithful walker just about everyday. He would tell me that he would pray and talk to God during those times of quiet.
