Obituary of Susie Mae Burton

Susie Mae Burton was born on January 31, 1934 in Camden, N.J. to Thomas Denson and Mattie Irving Denson.  She departed this life on Monday, December 9, 2019 peacefully surrounded by her children.

She was the sixth of six children raised in Camden, N.J.  Susie accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of the First Nazarene Baptist Church in Camden, where she enjoyed singing on the Senior Choir.

Susie graduated from Camden High School in 1951.  After completing high school, Susie continued her education at Cooper Hospital Nursing School.  She inspired to become a nurse, however, she received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Glassboro State College.  She worked for the Camden City Housing Authority where she retired from in 1996.

Susie enjoyed her retirement spending time with her children and family.  She particularly enjoyed eating crabs and watching the cooking channels.

She was the mother of four children, Derrick A. Denson (Rhonda), Dennis R. Denson, Denise J. Groover, and Lisa D. Pritchett.  In addition, she was the grandmother of four and was fondly called "Nana" to Aurora S. Denson, LeAndra Brown (Terrell), Sean Denson (Julie) and Ethan Pritchett.  She was also a great grandmother to Michah Brown.  She is survived by her sister, Dolly Nichols and host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
