Obituary of Blendina Maria Baker

Please share a memory of Blendina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Blendina Maria Baker was born on September 22, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Blenny Edward Crosby and Edith Quinn Crosby.

She graduated from All Girls High School in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She continued her education in Cosmetology and attended Lincoln College Prep for Business Administration.

She had several positions in the office workplace, and her longest position was at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital as a Business Administrator Assistant.

Blendina then moved from Philadelphia PA to Berlin NJ where she stayed with her family “The Toomers”;. Here is where she had fun and went to hang out at a place known as the Tippin Inn Bar. She hung with her cousin Patsy and other family and friends. She was known for her dancing to the oldies and goodies and having a good time. Her nickname was “Blenn Boomers.”

She then met her husband Warner Baker Jr and fell in love. They married on April 5,1969 and had two beautiful daughters Edith Baker and Warnetta Baker.

She became a homemaker to be able to raise her daughters and be in their lives. During this time, she decided to give more love and became a Foster Parent to care for other children. She eventually extended our family and adopted Marvin Baker, Dimarus Baker and Dwight Baker.

The family  attended St. Luke U.A.M.E. church in Lawnside NJ where she joined the choir.

After many years she joined another gospel choir that sang at many other churches. They were called the Divine Ensemble Gospel choir under the direction of Judy Bell.

She attended Bethany Baptist Church where she joined The Sanctuary Choir. She was known as the Group Hug Lady. She gave hugs to everyone and was always an encouragement to those around her. She was the cake lady for the choir to celebrate all the birthdays. In addition, she also cared and loved for Seniors that needed a companion while their family went out on outings.

Blendina Baker had a heart of gold and enough love to share with anyone who wanted to be loved. She is present with the Lord as he loved her more. However, her presence will truly be missed.

She leaves to mourn her devoted husband, Warner Baker, daughters Edith, Warnetta, and Dimaris, son’s Marvin and Dwight. sister, Francine Berry, Her grandchildren, Quadir, Mark, Raekwan, Tiana, Malachi, Maurice and Tommy, and the new addition to the family, her great grandchildren, Kayden & Kai. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Each of them carries HER spirit, HER legacy and HER love.
