Please share a memory of Joanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On January 31st, 2026 the Lord called Joanne A James to her heavenly home. She had been suffering for a while and God, in his infinite wisdom, said well done and called her home.

Joanne was born May 14, 1954 and was the first of three children brought into this world by Carl and Mary Clark. Because of her mothers influence she was raised Catholic.

Mr. Clark eventually wanted to improve the family living situation and they moved from Philadelphia to Trevose PA. There she attended Bensalem High school where she excelled in track and basketball. After graduation she headed south to Raleigh NC where she attended St Augustine's University.

In 1974 Joanne met and married Gerenzo Lee In 1976 she headed back to Philadelphia and eventually Joanne loved music, loved to sing and dancing, animals. She often would baby sit dogs for neighbors and friends. Her mother had taught her how to strut the runway and she kept it going.

She met Frank James on Jan 1,2001. They met on Black Planet and were never apart after that.

She always wanted to help women that were in distress. She could not do it by herself so she joined Ladies of Exhale. She chaired a comedy show for them but her illness kept her from doing more.

She leaves to mourn Frank James her devoted husband of 25 years and son Rozell (Lamont) Howard.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Avis Marie Clark and Joyce Clark-Peed She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great friends
