Obituary of Amos Worley, III
Amos Worley, III was born on July 15, 1946, to the late Amos Worley, Jr. and Alleen Worley in Philadelphia, PA. After an extended illness he departed this life on November 29, 2025.
“Rocky” as he was affectionately known by family and friends received his early education in the Philadelphia Public School System, graduating from Simon Gratz High School where he was outgoing, played pickup basketball games with friends, and stayed current with the latest styles to impress girls. Rocky’s first employment after high school was as a Supervisor with Western Union after which he followed various other endeavors including a law clerk at Temple University Law Library.
While still in high school, Rocky met Loretta (Suzy) Brown and fell in love. They married and from this union a son, Tracey Brian Worley was born.
Rocky struggled to be a good husband and father, however, the marriage failed. Later in life he met Ruthie Benbow and they welcomed a daughter, Tamika.
Rocky’s walk with God began at an early age. As a child he attended Morris Brown A.M.E. Church with his family and when visiting relatives in New Jersey attended Greater Calvary Baptist Church. Over the years he developed a personal relationship with God and embraced Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Over the past twenty years Rocky resided at Abigail House for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Camden where he was thought highly of and had many friends. It was his home. He enjoyed reading his Bible which was always nearby and sharing the word of God with others.
Rocky was also a fervent sports fan and followed Philly teams televised from season to season. He looked forward to “Sis” and Bern and James bringing snacks during visits, going out to dinner at the Red Lobster restaurant and family get togethers. Rocky had a unique sense of humor and liked to tell jokes, tease his sister and create the most appropriate and humorous nicknames for family members. Rocky was loved and he returned that love in ways that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Rocky was predeceased by his parents, sister, Marie Worley, brothers, Bernard Worley, Earle M. Worley, Marvin E. Worley and brother-in-law, James E. Lockley, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory; son, Tracey Brian Worley, daughter, Tamika Scott (Gary), Sister: Rosalind Lockley, Grandchildren: Tracey Brian, Jr., Amin Ackridge, and Kadiedra, Christian McNeill and Karrington Scott, Great Grandchildren: Legend Worley, Boston Worley, King-Emmanuel Lee Bryant, Lance Lucas, Jr., Kimora Lucas and Aariyah Ackridge.
