Her Life Story
Estella Blocker Williams, affectionately known as "Stella", was born on June 21, 1929 to the late Celeste, Sr. and Estella Blocker in Elwood, NJ. On November 23rd, 2025, she transitioned to eternal rest with the Lord.
Estella attended Elwood and Egg Harbor City schools. Her ambitious spirit led her to attend Dobbins Technical High School in Philadelphia, Pa to study cosmetology and design. Her quest for knowledge continued as she pursued social work classes at Atlantic Community College and Urban Leadership Development Program at New York University.
Estella's ambitious and entrepreneurial spirit was known all throughout Atlantic County. Hat Maker, Hair Stylist, Model, owner of the Fish Barn, Court Reporter for Atlantic County Courts, and Investigator for the Atlantic County Sheriff's Office are just a few of Stella's careers.
Faith was central to Estella's life. She accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in South Egg Harbor, NJ. As an adult, she joined Shiloh Baptist, and transferred serving to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Pleasantville, NJ.
Estella's ministry exceeded the walls of the church as she was often seen or shared that "she was taking care of old people." Filling her car with clothes and food from the foodbanks, she would travel to nursing homes, shelters, and neighbors to distribute the food and clothes to those in need. She also would drive elderly people to their doctor's appointments. Her caring spirit also led her to open her home to care for mentally challenged adults. Estella loved all of her clients and cared for and integrated into the family seamlessly. They thrived under her care and we loved them as family.
Maintaining health and beauty were a central part of Estella's life. Her knowledge of herbs, vitamins, and her famous words, "Clean your colon" were markers of ensuring her longevity and the health of her loved ones. Her beautiful smile and sharp sense of style were known all throughout South Jersey.
Estella married David S. Williams, Jr in June 1947. From this union, four children were born: Diana L. Berger; David S. Williams III, Gail A. Williams, and Rodney E. Williams. She loved to praise her children's accomplishments and cherished spending time with all of them.
Along with her children, Estella leaves to grieve four grandchildren-David S. Williams, IV (Terri); Monica M. Musgrove; Aliya L. McNeill, and Malik Williams (Courtney); 9 great-grandchildren: Tarrah and Elijah Musgrove, David (V), Diamond, and Dominic Williams, Tyler and Tanaya Jackson, Malia and Mya Williams; and several great-great grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves her Goddaughter Linda McClinton, God-Son Wayne Cummings, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Estella is survived by her siblings: Catherine Handy, Doris Lazenby, Victoria Phillips, and Leonard Blocker. She was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Williams, Jr, Sisters Florence Dixon, Georgia Blocker, Mattie Cummings, Margaret Handy, and Connie Allen; and brothers Henry Blocker, Richard Blocker, Victor Blocker, Frederick Blocker, Alex Blocker, and Gregory Blocker.
