Hazel H. Self,92 West Berlin, NJ Hazel Hewitt Self, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Monday September 15th, 2025 at the age of 92. Born on August 27, 1933 in West Berlin, New Jersey, Hazel was the daughter of Robert Hewitt and Mildred Baylock Webb. Throughout her life, Hazel was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and friends. She married her longtime friend and love, Willie Self Jr. and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. On the corner where Hazel was born, Willie and various family members built their family home where together, they raised 8 children: Charles Hewitt (deceased), Willie Self III(deceased), Sherry, Tina, Jackie, Jeffrey, Tracey and Karen, who will forever be grateful for her love and support. Hazel had many memories in Berlin. She worked various jobs during the course of her life which brought her many new adventures, friends, and memories. Hazel's life can best be encapsulated by five "F" words: Family, Friends, Flowers, Food, and Fun. With a large family, Hazel took up sewing and made many of the clothing for her family. She had a passion for bowling with coworkers, playing bingo, and attending church (which she was an active member of St Johns Methodist Church). As time went on Hazel's health stopped her from attending church; but she always kept her faith. She enjoyed her communion, visits with cousins Mamie and Richard, cooking, having family cookouts, and playing cards or games. She is known for these words when you would see her, "Why haven't I seen you lately? When are you coming back? Come by the house and visit me. When you would come to see her see would have many stories to tell. Some may have been unusal (Jimmy Swaggart) but we would laugh in silent and listen. We will miss hearing these words/stories and will keep her memories close to our hearts. Hazel was preceded in death by her Father Robert Hewitt, Mother Mildred Baylock Webb, Husband Willie Self Jr, Brother Robert Hewitt (Shirley), Sister Lillian Hollis (Nathaniel, deceased), Son Willie Self III, Son Charles Hewitt. She is survived by her Daughter Sherry Jackson (Clent Sr.), Daughter Tina Hovington (Johnny), Daughter Jacqueline Worthington (Franklin III), Son Jeffery Self (Ida, deceased), Daughter Tracey Simmons (Lawrence) and Daughter Karen Self. Her siblings: Sister, Maxine Fauntory (Clifford, deceased), Brother Stanley Hewitt (Renee), 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
